World Wide
Dial-Ups
Well I
personally haven't had a dial-up modem in my machine
for years, I had ISDN in 1997-98
and then switched to Cable.
But I know a lot of people who
use it, and I test their machines
often when they screw it up.
ISDN is
offered by a few world wide ISPs, but I would advise
against it because finding
support would not be pretty. (Skipped)
World Wide Based ISPs for 56k
dial-up:
AT&T Worldnet (www.att.net)
rated the highest by Consumers
Reports Magazine but with $21.95
unlimited use, it's just not worth it.
AOL (www.aol.com) very
slow download speeds, and you wouldn't
believe me when I say SPAM!
$23.90 per month, again to costly.
EarthLink (www.earthlink.com)
offers for $21.95 with unlimited
use, but again too expensive for
only 56k.
Final Word:
Juno and Netzero are a few free
limited usage ISPs but will fill your
desktop with advertisement. The
reason World-Wide dial-ups are so
expensive is because they have
bigger servers and a lot higher consumer
ratio then a local ISP. Best best
is to stay local for best support and
cheapest cost.
